About Our Founder

Emin Tagiev is a world‑class violinist, respected educator, and the visionary founder of the Brisbane International Youth Music Competition (BIYMC). Renowned for his deep commitment to nurturing young talent, Emin has guided countless violinists toward successful careers at leading music institutions around the world. His dedication to mentorship and artistic excellence lies at the heart of BIYMC and the vibrant musical community it continues to build.

Emin’s musical journey is profoundly shaped by his distinguished family heritage. His mother, Elena Haldeeva, was an esteemed piano teacher and accompanist, while his father, Professor Murad Tagiev, was a People’s Artist of the USSR and a legendary music educator. Growing up in this extraordinary artistic environment, Emin was strongly influenced by his father’s close work with iconic musicians such as Leonid Kogan, Mstislav Rostropovich, and David Oistrakh. These early experiences instilled in him a deep respect for tradition, discipline, and musical integrity.

Surrounded by exceptional musicianship from a young age, Emin developed into both a refined performer and a passionate mentor. Today, he continues to uphold this legacy through the Brisbane International Youth Music Festival, fostering artistry, confidence, and discipline in the next generation of musicians, while strengthening a dynamic and supportive cultural community.
