Brisbane International Youth Music Festival is evolving!
We’ve got a whole lot of new and exciting changes coming to BIYMF in the next few weeks. Starting with the name, we’ve decided that in the interest of clarity from this point forward BIYMF will become Brisbane International Youth Music Competition (BIYMC).
The structure of the competition is going to change as well, we’re introducing a new Presto Competition for musicians up to the age of 12. While anyone up to the age of 25 can compete in the BIYMC.
We’ve also secured new international partnerships to offer our participants an exclusive opportunity to take part in the new International Student Exchange Program and play in the Festival Orchestra under the guidance of our Artistic Director – Emin Tagiev.
ABOUT THE COMPETITION
THE PREMIER EVENT FOR YOUNG MUSICIANS
Brisbane International Youth Music Competition held in Brisbane, Australia, since 2012. The competition aims to celebrate the young talent and to provide musically-gifted people with a performance experience to develop professional skills in performing arts.
BIYMC welcomes dozens of participants from all around the globe every year. Participation is possible via live audition or remotely via video submission. All entries get assessed thoroughly by the team of professional internationally acclaimed musicians.
The competition consists of three elimination style rounds. All contestants who progress to the second round (semi-finals) will be rewarded with a Certificate of Participation. The participants excelling to the Finals, will be in the running to receive monetary rewards and diplomas.
The competition provides a unique opportunity to take part in our International Student Exchange Program. Participation in the Exchange Program is by invitation only. The winners of the BIYMC will have a guaranteed invitation, while other contestants that display the necessary qualities can be invited at the discretion of the Artistic Director. The Exchange Program will offer a chance to attend workshops, masterclasses, individual and group lessons with renowned musicians in Europe. For young musicians the experience of sharing knowledge and ideas with their like-minded peers from other countries is invaluable.
Additionally, the participants will have an opportunity to perform as part of a combined Festival and Youth Orchestra during the overseas trip. This time around the Festival Orchestra will perform together with the Youth German Orchestra, conducted by Stafan Kebler in Germany in December 2023.
