THE PREMIER EVENT FOR YOUNG MUSICIANS
Brisbane International Youth Music Festival is an international youth music competition for young classical musicians aged 25 and under held in Brisbane, Australia. The competition is open to all instruments : piano, strings and winds, vocalists, duets and ensembles.
BIYMF is a non-for profit organization which operates exclusively for educational purposes since 2012. Our mission is not simply to select the best musicians, but to acknowledge and reward those talented and aspiring young performers who demonstrate a passion for music and exhibit considerable progress, enthusiasm and aspiration to become a true artist.

What's On at BIYMF
A major part of the BIYMF is the competition. Festival participants will be able to compete in the following categories:
- Strings (Junior and Senior)
- Wind (Junior and Senior)
- Brass (Junior and Senior)
- Piano (Junior and Senior)
- Vocal (Open)
- Ensemble (Open)
Junior category is for applicants under the age of 13 and senior category is for applicants from 13 to 25 years of age. Open category is for all applicants under 25.
Top competitors from each category will be chosen to perform at the Finals concert. The judging panel will select one work from the competitors’ program to be performed.
Up to three winners of the festival will be granted an opportunity to perform as a recitalist at the 2020 Crescendo Competition held at the world famous Carnegie Hall concert venue, in New York City, United States.
BIYMF participants will be given an opportunity to hone their skills while being coached by some of the most respected musicians and educators from Australia and across the globe.
The full list of the masterclasses will be announced closer the festival date. The website will be updated with the complete schedule and applicants will be notified via email.
